YOH seemed to separate his left shoulder only 96 seconds after the match began.
YOH sustained an apparent shoulder injury during a match for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title at Saturday’s NJPW Sakura Genesis.
YOH, who was battling his former Roppongi 3K Tag Partner SHO for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championships, appeared to suffer a detached shoulder only 96 seconds into their match.
The referee had to stop the match and medical personnel treated YOH inside the ring. SHO was declared winner and retained his title.
In what appeared to be an audible called hastily, DOUKI, Kosei Fujita, and SHO came to the ring for a shoot-angle, with Fujita attacking SHO while DOUKI took SHO’s belt.
Earlier that evening, NJPW announced the lineup for the Best of the Super Juniors 31, which included SHO, YOH DOUKI and Fujita. YOH may be replaced due to the injury. The tournament begins on May 11 and this year’s Finals will be held at Dominion on Friday, June 9.
