The WrestleMania main show is now official after Thursday’s Kickoff.
WWE WrestleMania 40 will feature Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
WWE’s WrestleMania kickoff media event on Thursday night in Las Vegas raised more questions than answers as it appeared to retcon last Friday’s SmackDown, and presented many potential matches moving forward.

WWE announced Thursday, following their Kickoff Media Event in Las Vegas, that Reigns and Rhodes will be the main event of WrestleMania forty in Philadelphia, set for Saturday, 4/6 & Sunday, 4/7.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H’ Levesque announced the main event in a post on social media after Kickoff.
Rhodes was “making his choice” for the first-time at the Kickoff, a continuity change from last Friday’s SmackDown, where Rhodes said that he would not be coming for Reigns during WrestleMania. The show ended with a Roman Reigns and The Rock face-off.
Roman Reigns announced at the WrestleMania kickoff event that he had chosen to face The Rock in WrestleMania, after Cody had hesitated. Cody lost his right to select which title he wanted to challenge for at Mania.
The Rock then entered the screen and displayed a Samoan family tree, saying that the main match between him and Reigns was going to be the biggest one ever and that you had to accept it even if you didn’t like it.
Rhodes then interrupted and said that Reigns and Rock’s proceedings were “bullsh*t.” He announced that he made his WrestleMania choice and would choose to face Reigns. Rhodes then said that The Rock’s and Reigns’ grandfathers would be ashamed, which led to The Rock slapping Rhodes.
As the storyline between Rhodes and Rock unfolded, a pull-apart took place involving Rock Reigns and Seth Rollins. Rollins was an afterthought onstage, as World Heavyweight champion.
The Rock told Triple H to “fix” Rhodes’ situation in a backstage segment at the end of the show. Rock was walking in lockstep with Reigns. After that angle, a Rhodes & Rollins vs. Rock & Reigns Tag Match would be logical. However, whether it happens at WrestleMania night one or Elimination Chamber in Australia this month remains to be determined.
The WrestleMania kickoff event featured a face to face between Women’s World Champions Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch as well as a promotional video from Bianca Belair.
