WWE star Drew McIntyre is inducted into the Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame in todays Wrestling news
WWE star Drew McIntyre was honored for his homecoming at Clash at Castle.
McIntyre, the first active wrestler in Scotland to receive this honor, was inducted into Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for Scotland Thursday. He is the 10th wrestler inducted into the Hall of Fame. George Kidd was the first inductee. Andy Robin, Frank Cullen Bill Ross Drew McDonald Chic Purvey Jim McKenzie Ian Campbell and Rusty Blair were also previous inductees.
The induction was held at the Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow’s home of Rangers Football Club. Jacqueline McLaren presented McIntyre a plaque at a ceremony. His induction was organised by wrestling historian Bradley Craig.
McLaren wrote: “Such an honor to present [superstar]@WWEUK @DMcIntyreWWE a plaque inducting him into the Wrestling Hall of Fame of Scotland.” This annual event recognizes achievement in an art form that combines live performance, sportsmanship & entertainment. Congrats Drew.”
McIntyre is a Rangers supporter and told The Herald how it was a mind-blowing experience to be inducted into their stadium. He is honored to be inducted into the same Hall of Fame with some of the Scottish wrestlers who came before.
McIntyre stated that “there are very few people in the list and to read their names, they are real legends of Scottish wrestlers and their contributions are amazing.” “I’m the first active wrestling player to be inducted and to be inducted at Ibrox is a mind-blowing experience.”
WWE posted a message on social media congratulating McIntyre for his induction. McIntyre said he was proud to be Scottish.
McIntyre will face Damian Priest in the WWE Clash at the Castle event this Saturday. The event will be streamed live on Peacock/WWE Network at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
This will be a big night for Scottish wrestlers, as this is the first time that the country has hosted a WWE PPV/PLE. Piper Niven, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn will also be competing for the titles. Bayley vs. Niven is the WWE Women’s Championship match for this show. Also, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. Fyre & Dawn vs. Shayna Basszler & Zoe Stark are the WWE Women’s Tag Team title matches.
