WWE has revealed the first title challenger for Cody Rhodes.
Two triple threat matches are scheduled for SmackDown tonight. The winners will face off on SmackDown on Friday, April 19. The winner of this match becomes the number-one contender for Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Triple threat bouts tonight include Santos Escobar vs. Bobby Lashley vs. LA Knight, Rey Mysterio vs. AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens and Rey Mysterio vs. AJ Styles vs. Rey Mysterio.
WWE has not stated when the winner of the title will get their shot. However, the company’s Next Premium Live Event is Backlash, which takes place in Lyon, France, on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The poster for the show features Rhodes.
Rhodes will make an appearance on tonight’s SmackDown. He dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Reigns was the champion for 1,316 day before he was defeated by Rhodes.
