Raw has recorded its highest 18-49 demo ratings since the Monday following WrestleMania.
The return of C.M. Punk and Randy Orton’s appearance on Raw on Monday was expected to bring in monster ratings. It had the highest number of viewers since Raw after SummerSlam, and the highest 18-49 rating since Raw after WrestleMania.
The average of 1,884,000 viewers was 400,000 more than the recent NFL shows. The 18-49 rating of 0.65 was also significantly higher than the NFL season.
We didn’t have the NFL numbers at press time, but we expected the Vikings-Bears match to be down significantly from the previous week. Raw’s ranking in the standing is also not available, but it’s clear that Raw beat all cable programming except NFL-related programming. The biggest growth was seen among men aged 18-34, at 45 percent.
The ratings were up 29 percent from last week. They were up 35 percent among 18-49 year olds and 44 percent among 18-34 year olds.
Although Punk was the main reason for the ratings increase and his segment grew in total viewers by 117,000, but in 18-49 it grew by 128,000. This means that older viewers actually tuned out but 18-49 viewers returned for the final segment.
Punk did not change the ratings pattern, nor did it bring the show to a high point. But nowadays the main event is a rare high point. Orton’s return was also a major contributor. The Orton segment, which opened the show, had a show-high 2,06 million viewers and a 0.73. The Punk promo, which was placed at the end of the show in a worse position, did 1,77 million viewers and 0.66. If the spots had been switched, Punk would have probably done just as well or even better at the beginning, and Orton would have done less well. The low point of the show was Orton vs. Dominik.
The show’s audience has grown by 14 percent compared to a year ago. It has also increased by 61 percent among 18-49-year-olds and 65 percent among 18-34-year-olds. These comparisons are even better when you take into account the homes that dropped USA in the last year.
