WWE has reportedly hired a new writer for SmackDown.
According to a report by Fightful, John Swikata was promoted to the position. He replaces Ryan Callahan who, according to reports, left the company.
Callahan was the Vice President of SmackDown from February 2023. Before that, he was the lead writer for the show starting in June 2020. In the lawsuit filed last year by former writer Britney Abrams, Callahan was named alongside Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon as well as other members of the WWE creative team. The suit was voluntarily dropped in August.
Swikata has been a senior author with the company since years and is said to be well liked by the creative team.
