Jerry Lawler’s contract with WWE to be a broadcaster has reportedly expired.
PWInsider reports that WWE decided to not renew the 74 year-old’s contract to broadcast, which was said to have expired in 2024. The report was updated shortly after it was published to include a note confirming that WWE contacted Lawler to confirm he is still under the legends contract with the company.
In November, he last appeared in WWE programming when he announced the qualifying matches for NXT Iron Survivor.
Lawler was with the company from 1992. He was away for several months between 93-94 because of legal troubles and for nine months after the release of Stacy Carter aka The Kat who was his romantic companion at the time.
Lawler participated in a virtual signing of autographs over the weekend, and spoke about his health and recovery after a stroke that he suffered in 2023.
Lawler replied, “My health is excellent.” “I’m just leaving the doctor to get back on my way after my knee replacement. There are still minor problems from the stroke, but they’re getting better.
Lawler was inducted to the Wrestling Observer newsletter Hall of Fame’s inaugural class of 1996. He is also a three time Feud of the Year Award Winner, in 1987 against Austin Idol & Tommy Rich, and in 1992 with Jeff Jarrett.
