Charlotte was injured last week when she faced Asuka on SmackDown.

WWE star Charlotte Flair will be away from the ring for a long time.

WWE announced that Charlotte would be out of the ring for nine months because of a knee injury. The announcement was made during commentary, while recapping Charlotte vs. Asuka’s match last week.

Charlotte sustained a knee injury when she faced Asuka last Friday on SmackDown. Charlotte was able finish the match, but she had to be assisted to her back after receiving medical attention. Last Saturday, Dave Meltzer reported that Charlotte was waiting for X-rays.

Asuka defeated Charlotte after Bayley interfered in their match.

Although the exact injury suffered by Charlotte has not been confirmed yet, a torn anterior cruciate ligament would require nine months of recovery.

Charlotte would have to miss the Royal Rumble as well as WrestleMania if the nine-month recovery period is accurate.

Charlotte and Damage CTRL had been in a feud on SmackDown. Charlotte, Bianca Belair and Shotzi defeated Asuka Bayley IYO SKY & Kairi SANE in the women’s WarGames at Survivor Series.
