WWE announces a change to the NXT Number One Contender’s Match in todays Wrestling news
WWE has announced that one of the matches airing this week on NXT will be changed.
This Tuesday night, the NXT North American Championship’s number one contender match will feature Wes Lee vs. Josh Briggs and Joe Coffey. The match was originally announced as Lee vs. Briggs, but Ivar has been injured and is not in action.
Coffey replaced Ivar in the NXT episode taped last week. Here you can find spoilers for the episode.
The change is a result of last week’s NXT ending with an angle in which the returning Gallus (Joe Coffey Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) attacked Lee Briggs and Ivar behindstage. Ivar’s injury in the storyline was attributed to that attack. Ivar confirmed that his injury was “very serious” and legitimate.
WWE asked Lee and Briggs to ask NXT General Manager Ava to include Coffey in the match so they could exact their revenge. Ava confirmed Coffey’s inclusion in a tweet.
