The ROH Women’s World Championship will be defended on Saturday.
Ring of Honor announced on Friday that Athena will defend her title against Mercedes Martinez on tomorrow’s taping in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Athena and her minion Billie Starkz have been involved in a rivalry with Martinez and Diamante of late on ROH TV. On last night’s show, Martinez and Diamante beat Athena and Starks in a tornado tag bout and Martinez posed with the ROH Women’s title after the match.
Athena defeated Martinez to win the title at Final Battle 2022. It was the fifth singles match they’ve had, with three taking place in Shimmer, one in NXT, and one in ROH. One match ended in a double DQ and Athena won the other four.
WrestleTix reported that 2,822 tickets have been distributed for Saturday’s show as of yesterday. AEW announced on Wednesday that Kenny Omega will challenge MJF for the World Championship on that night’s Collision.
