Willow Nightingale wins AEW TBS title in Stardom event in todays Wrestling news
On Saturday, AEW’s Willow Nightingale was defending her TBS Championship in Japan.
Nightingale defeated Tam Nakano in Stardom Flashing Champions. Nightingale was competing for Stardom for the first time in Japan. She had competed at Stardom’s US show during WrestleMania last month. Nightingale has previously wrestled for NJPW, Tokyo Joshi Pro and the World Wrestling Federation in Japan.
“Tam, it’s clear to me why you have such a decorated past. I can see how people love and adore you. Nightingale admitted that a part of her felt bad for smashing you on your face and dropping you onto your head.
“But this here — this is the AEW Championship, and I’m here to show you the AEW Champion. You really did bring a fight to me. My goodness. I am sweating. I am pulsing. Oh my goodness. I’m still a victor. Tam, this may not be the end for us. Who knows in this crazy business of wrestling? But today, Willow Nightingale is the better woman.”
Nightingale beat Julia Hart to the TBS Championship at AEW Dynasty in last month.
Nightingale will defend her title against Mercedes Mone in Las Vegas at Double or Nothing on Sunday, 26 May. Mone is making her AEW debut in the ring and this will be her first wrestling match since she suffered an ankle injury in a match with Nightingale in May 2023 for NJPW.
