Will Ospreay’s public support was a major factor in Ricochet’s decision to join AEW.
Ospreay has praised Ricochet in media interviews going back to the time when he was still with WWE. Ospreay said to Comicbook that WWE’s treatment of Ricochet is “appalling”, and he wants Ricochet somewhere where he is truly appreciated.
Ricochet gave WWE notice in June, before joining AEW in last month. In a recent interview with CBS Sports Ricochet “spoke graciously” about his experience with WWE, and claimed that he didn’t speak with any AEW wrestling stars until he made the decision to leave. Ricochet, however, says that it was cool to hear Ospreay speak so loudly in support of him.
Ricochet said, “To hear him speak so passionately for me is amazing.” “I don’t think Ricochet has had the chance to advocate for himself for a very long time so it was really awesome to have my homie to do that for me.”
Ricochet’s and Ospreay’s in-ring rivalry will inevitably be renewed at some point now that they are both in AEW. Ricochet won his first AEW match on Dynamite, beating Kyle Fletcher. After the match, Ricochet was supposed to interact with Ospreay. However, the angle caused PAC to blindside Ospreay by using a reverse hurricanrana. PAC told Ricochet that if he wanted to take a shot at Ospreay, he should get to the end of the line.
Ospreay defends his AEW International Championship this Saturday against PAC.
