Ospreay won the hard-fought victory in an electric atmosphere.

Will Ospreay & Bryan Danielson didn’t disappoint in their first ever meeting. Ospreay won at AEW Dynasty, in a match that many have already dubbed the best of the season and one of the greatest in recent memory.

In one of many dizzying scenes, both men squared up in the corners, stared at each before running out. Ospreay was the faster of the pair, landing a Hidden Blade, and then a Tiger Driver ’91.

Ospreay smashed another Hidden Blade on Danielson to finish him and win the match. The AEW commentary team acted like it was a real injury but never cut away to Danielson getting treated in the ring. After the match, they said that he could walk out of the ring on his own but needed some help.

The bout lasted just over 32 minutes. Ospreay is undefeated at 6-0 in this AEW run, while Danielson’s three-match winning streak was ended by the loss.

The atmosphere at the Chaifetz Arena started off incredible. Fans chanted “Holy sh*t”, before the men had even locked up, and then “We’re Not Worthy” later. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Ospreay and chanted his name throughout.

Ospreay survived Danielson’s physical style in the early going, using quick bursts of energy to stun his opponents and bring the audience to their feet as a consequence. Danielson started to focus on Ospreay’s midsection after kicking him in the midsection while he was springboarding into the ring. He also stretched him out and threw punches, knees, and elbows at Ospreay’s ribs.

Ospreay made his shots count, punctuating one with a Skytwister press to the outside of ring. Danielson regained momentum moments later when he kicked Ospreay’s elbow during a Hidden Blade try and then worked for an unsuccessful Cattle Mutilation.

The match was a tale of two men who never had a dominant period. Every time Ospreay got on a run, Danielson would counter with his own run.

After more competitive action, Danielson hit a avalanche tiger-suplex and then went to work with a variety of kicks, including two PKs. Ospreay sat and invited more. He then rallied, and punctuated this sequence with an Os cutter on the apron.

Danielson barely made it into the ring following a Hidden Blade to the floor from the apron. Ospreay continued to attack and went for a second Os cutter, but Danielson countered by a La Mistica in a LeBell Lock that Ospreay just barely escaped.

A second sequence followed by a poisonrana attempt that Ospreay barely escaped. Ospreay flipped out of a stomach-to-back and missed a Hidden Blade, only for Danielson hit a Busaiku to bring the fans to their knees.

Danielson nailed Ospreay with a Busaiku knee attack on his Os Cutter attempt. Then, on an Os Cutter try, Danielson knocked him out with a shoulder cutter.

The match was the third match in the ladder, with the Young Bucks/FTR Tag Team Title match and the Samoa Joe/Swerve Strickland AEW world title match following.
