He will be inducted to the Pioneer Wing.

Wanderlei Silva was announced as the UFC Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Silva was inducted into Pioneer Wing during last night’s UFC 298 broadcast. He is the second person to be announced for this summer’s inductions. The first was former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar.

Dana White, CEO of UFC, said in a press release that Wanderlei Silva was one of the true pioneers in the sport of MMA. “Wanderlei Silva was an absolute savage and left his mark with some of the most memorable battles in combat sports’ history. He fought against Mirko, Chuck Liddell and Brian Stann. His fights with Rich Franklin were also legendary. He was one of the first superstars of PRIDE, who helped grow MMA fans on a worldwide scale. It will be an honour to induct him into UFC Hall of Fame next summer.”

Silva will be the 19th member of the Pioneer Wing. He joins Anderson Silva and Jens Pulver as well as Rich Franklin, Matt Serra Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell Mark Coleman, Randy Couture Dan Severn Ken Shamrock, Maurice Smith Don Frye Minotauro, Nogueira, BasRutten, Pat Miletich Tito Ortiz Matt Hughes, Bas Rutten Pat Miletich Pat Miletich Pat Miletich, Tito Ortiz Matt Hughes, Matt Hughes, Tito Ortiz Matt Hughes, Mark Coleman

The Pioneer Wing of UFC Hall of Fame honors fighters who started their careers before November 17th, 2000, have a minimum of 35 years of age, or are retired for at least one year.

Silva was the first Pride Middleweight Champion. He also holds the record for the most title defenses and consecutive title defences in the history of the promotion.

Silva has won the UFC’s Fight of the Night five times and Knockout of the Night twice.

Silva has won five awards at the annual Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. He won Feud of the Year with Sakuraba in 2001, Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2001, Fight of the Year against Hidehiko Yashida in 2002, Fight of the Year against Quinton Jackson in 2004 and the Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2004.

He ended his career with a 35-win record, 14-loss record, 1 draw and 1 no-contest.
