Tyler Bate challenges Ricochet for WWE Speed Championship in todays Wrestling news
Tyler Bate will be the first to try Ricochet’s WWE Speed Championship.
Since Ricochet became the first WWE Speed champion, a tournament was held to determine his first challenger. Bate won the title shot after he defeated Apollo Crews in the Speed episode which premiered today. This Friday, May 24, there will be a new episode at 12 noon Eastern time featuring the Ricochet and Bate title match.
Crews was not originally meant to be Bate’s opponent in today’s match. Ivar, the player who beat Crews in the first-round of the four man tournament, is currently out of action because of a serious injury. He was unable to compete against Bate because of this. Crews was given a second chance to replace Ivar.
Crews performed a standing moonsault and a press slam during the final sequence. Bate won the match when Crews attempted to cover the pin. Bate won the race with 56 seconds left in the three-minute limit.
In the first round, Bate defeated Berto in the tournament.
In the 2024 WWE Draft Bate and his partner Pete Dunne were moved to the Raw roster. Ricochet appears on Raw.
