Paul “Triple H Levesque” has no desire to return to the ring.

WWE’s Chief content officer hasn’t wrestled in a match for nearly five years. Levesque announced his retirement from the ring in 2021 after a “cardiac incident”. Levesque was left with a defibrillator after his near-death encounter.

Levesque, 54, was asked to wrestle again on The Pat McAfee Show if the story required it.

Levesque replied, “I don’t believe so.” “I don’t believe I should be out here taking bumps all around. You know, like, I have a jumpstarter. That’s good. This is a backup system in case something goes wrong, which can happen to anyone at any time. So I have a backup system. You don’t want unplug the cables.”

Levesque said that he is totally fine with retiring from the ring.

“I’m completely fine with that. I rode the bike until the wheels literally fell off. “I’m fine with that,” he said. “And I was in a position where I should have retired anyways.” I was at a point in my mind when I wanted to be done.

Levesque was approached before his cardiac event about wrestling at WrestleMania. He considered the idea, but decided to decline it.

Levesque appeared in front of the audience at WrestleMania in April 2022. He left his boots in ring to officially end his in-ring life.

Levesque’s final match took place in Japan, in 2019. He teamed up with Shinsuke Nagamura to face Samoa Joe & Robert Roode in a WWE houseshow.
Levesque told McAfee he liked the WWE behind-the scenes almost as much as competing.

“Helping these boys and girls, watching their passions and loves succeed, watching their passions and loves go beyond their wildest dream and get what they want. Levesque said that for him, the emotional aspect was more exciting than anything else.
