Khan addressed these comments in an interview with TMZ Sports.

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports Tony Khan discussed making headlines for his recent controversial anti WWE comments.

Khan made fun of his competitors while appearing on the NFL Network in the last week. He called WWE a “really wicked juggernaut” comparing it to the accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein. Khan said that while AEW was like Pepsi in pro wrestling, WWE was “like Harvey Weinstein.”

TMZ Sports interviewed Khan about the comments that went viral and how they were received. He replied:

I think we got a lot of coverage for AEW. It is important that I say that I believe AEW is in many ways the best wrestling company on the planet. I think we have the best matches and wrestlers. We’ve also been putting on some of the best shows. The two AEW pay-per view events [Revolution] and Dynasty were my picks for the best events of the year.

Khan said that he would be willing to put AEW’s track record both inside and outside the ring up against anyone.

This year, AEW has seen so many wonderful things. I will defend our track record on anything – whether it’s about the quality of the show, the safety, travel, or the hotels. AEW is the best at everything we do in and outside of the ring.

Former WWE employee Janel grant has filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, alleging that he sexually abused her. WWE is also named in the lawsuit as a defendant. McMahon quit WWE and TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, after the lawsuit was filed.

Khan had already been receiving media attention before making the comments for the way he maintained kayfabe following his attack by The Young Bucks on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday. He wore a brace around his neck throughout the NFL Draft to sell the effects of the spike Tombstone pildriver he received from The Young Bucks. Khan will auction off the neck brace to raise money for charity.

Khan told TMZ Sports the Jacksonville Jaguars’ draft was excellent, but wearing the neck brace made things a little more difficult for him.

The only thing that I didn’t like was having to wear a neck brace for the entire process. It made it a little more difficult to read the analytics sheets at times. Overall, it was a really great draft for us. I’m happy that AEW received so much attention. I think this is a very exciting time for AEW. This week, AEW has been introduced to many people. I know we had a good audience for [Collision] last Saturday.

AEW provided an update on Khan’s health in Saturday’s Collision. Khan was not cleared to travel after The Elite’s assault.
