Khan is excited about the Athena vs. Billie Starkz game on Friday.

Tony Khan, AEW & Ring of Honor’s head of media relations, said “something to consider” during a Tuesday press conference to promote this Friday’s ROH final battle streaming special.
Khan used this phrase three times. Once when asked if he would change the ROH Tag Team title, since both MJF & Adam Cole were injured. Another time when asked if he would have Samoa Joe give up the ROH TV Title rather than lose it in a ring. And again when asked if MJF should appear on ROH TV on HonorClub.

In a call that was largely unnewsworthy, Khan did confirm he met officials from The CW 2022 in Los Angeles to discuss bringing ROH onto their network. He felt the time was not right and hasn’t been in a lot of detail conversations about ROH TV future. He is excited to see both AEW & ROH hit the TV rights markets in 2024.

Khan said that the relationship between him and WBD was strong, but ROH is still an important third party. He said that both properties are receiving a lot of interest.

The match Khan spoke about most for Friday was ROH Women’s champion Athena defending her title against Billie Starkz, which will be the main event of the show. It’s a weekly angle he has personally been involved with. Khan said he was open to the idea of Athena defending her title on AEWTV.

Khan responded to the Joe question by saying that he wanted Joe as a focal point of AEW, and that it would be a challenge for him to defend the TV title at the same time.

Khan did not indicate that the Tag Team titles will be stripped from MJF & Cole, after they won them at August’s All In. Cole is out indefinitely due to a broken foot/ankle, while MJF is nursing multiple injuries before defending his AEW World title at Worlds End this month.

He said that there may be more lucha on Friday’s show and to keep an eye out for the final entry into the Survival of the Fittest TV Title Match.

Khan avoided the question when asked about an updated HonorClub subscriber count. He said that having Friday’s show available on streaming rather than pay-per view has helped subscriptions, but did not provide any numerical information.
