Tony Khan, AEW’s head, said that the company doesn’t pay anything for Ric’s appearances. He added that Ric “is essentially” paying them.
Khan was asked by the New York Post, who was discussing the road to Sting’s retirement match in March’s Revolution, about Flair’s inclusion in the final countdown. The first time they were approached was by Flair’s Wooooo energy drink company, who wanted to offer a “highly-paying sponsorship.”

Khan said: “We don’t pay Ric Flaair; Ric is paying us.” Wooooo Energy pays us for all of Ric Flair’s appearances. We collect revenue from them.

He did not mention how much revenue he had.

Flair made his debut on a late October edition of AEW Dynamite, as Khan’s gift to Sting. He was later announced signing a multi-year contract (later revealed as two years) with AEW. His energy drink became the official one for AEW.

Last week, Flair said he would leave the company if he embarrassed Khan. This was not mentioned, but it followed a Rampage promo in which a part where he invited women aged 18 to 28 to his hotel room had been omitted before broadcast.

Khan claimed that he had contacted Sting to ask if he was planning to return to London’s Wembley Stadium before the announcement of the All In ticket sales. Sting, however, felt he could not make it. They worked towards the final date.
