Tony Khan claims that this is the most significant time in the history All Elite Wrestling.
The AEW President was a recent guest on Q101 and continued to sound confident that his company will soon be profitable after a new media deal.
“Right now is the most important moment in AEW’s history.” Khan said that the upcoming media rights deal is the most important we’ll make.
Later, he added:
“Over the past five years, AEW has been steadily building up to this point, where it will jump into media rights, and be a very successful, profitable company. We have exceeded all expectations we could ever have had, because we’ve achieved so many amazing feats in these years. We’ve set all these incredible pay-per-view records. We’ve done pay per view numbers, whether you want to look it straight-up or adjusted, however you choose to look at, head-tohead, very strong in comparison to the last few WCW years, and I believe that’s a real success story.”
“It is a really interesting point of business that our business in pay-per view has continued to grow,” he added.
Khan also spoke of the work that AEW has done to promote Discovery’s Shark Week.
“Shark Week has a special place in the heart of our company. And for good reason. It’s an important tradition that has helped the company get to where it is today. I know that it is very important to Mr. Zaslav and Bruce (Campbell), Kathleen (Finch), as well as all the top executives, and I took great pride in putting one of the best Dynamites together we’ve ever done.”
“WBD’s side has been predicting for months that the deal will be done by the end of the exclusive window. This window has closed. The deal is still not complete. There are still so many questions about the details. Will Dynamite last three hours? Will Collision be three hours long? Will Rampage or Collision have a new time slot? “How will streaming affect the television deal?”
