Tony Khan: It would not be ‘fair’ to expect Kenny Omega to return by the AEW Winnipeg show in todays Wrestling news
At the Revolution press conference, the AEW president spoke about Omega’s current status.
Kenny Omega will not be back in time to perform at AEW’s upcoming Canadian shows.
Omega announced that he would be out indefinitely in December after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. Dave Meltzer, who is our own Dave Meltzer, reported the following month that Omega would wait until March to decide if he will have surgery. There is no current timetable for his recovery.
During the AEW Revolution press conference, Tony Khan answered a question about Omega being advertised in AEW’s show on May 1, Winnipeg and if he would be cleared before then.
Khan responded:
I don’t believe it would be fair to expect that Kenny Omega will be cleared by that time.
I appreciate your question. I am very confident that Kenny will return, but I do not know the exact date.
I think it’s a very aggressive timetable
AEW will be in Ottawa on 16 March, Toronto on 20 March, Quebec City on 27 March and London on 30 March. The company will return to Canada in Winnipeg on May 1, Edmonton on May 8, Vancouver on May 11, and then Calgary on July 10th.
