Khan acknowledged Punk, the first time he has done so since his return to WWE.

Tony Khan, AEW’s head, has not yet addressed CM Punk’s new home in WWE. However, he credited the former two-time AEW World Champion’s successful moments in a recent interview.

Khan was asked by the New York Post about Punk’s positive contribution to his company. Khan did not dismiss it as a “legal matter” like he had done in an earlier interview. Instead, he gave a positive and brief answer about Punk.

“The First Dance” was a great moment in wrestling, and it was part of a time that was very important for AEW. All Out 2021 and All In are our two biggest pay-per views of all time. We’ve enjoyed a lot of success as a company and as a team, and CM Punk was a big part of this team in some of the most thrilling times.

Punk was fired from AEW for cause in September after an investigation following August’s All In. He got into a backstage fight with Jack Perry, and also reportedly lunged at Khan — all just moments before he started the pay-per view against Samoa Joe.

The 45-year old made his surprise WWE return at the Survivor Series this past Saturday, his first appearance since nearly a decade.
