Tony Khan says the biggest opportunity in AEW history will be when it starts streaming on Max next month.
As part of the new media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery, episodes of AEW Dynamite and Collision will be simulcast on HBO’s streaming service in addition to TBS and TNT beginning with AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
Khan recently participated in an interview on IHeartMedia’s Battleground podcast and said that getting AEW on HBO’s streaming service has been a goal of his for years.
Khan said:
“Starting in January, we have the biggest opportunity in the history of AEW since we first launched on TNT and TBS. This is so huge for us to be streaming on Max and simulcast. We’re going to keep the great homes we have on cable. We get to stay on TBS every Wednesday, stay on TNT every Saturday. These are staples of the cable industry and staples of pro wrestling, TBS and TNT. It’s great to be on the top cable channels, but so much is moving towards streaming. It’s important to have a foothold in cable, which is still a huge platform, but streaming has all the momentum. Streaming is the future and Max is the best in class streaming platform.”
“That’s where we want AEW to be. It’s been the goal for years. I’ve talked about it for years. It’s the dream come true.”
“And now for all the cord cutters and the people that use Max, it’s going to be great to have AEW live streaming Wednesday and Saturday every week.”
“At the same time, we’re on TBS and TNT. It gives the fans multiple options to watch the show, and it definitely is going to expand our audience by a lot.”
The first AEW show to air on Max will also be the first episode of Dynamite following the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28 in Orlando, Florida. Fight for the Fallen is scheduled for the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina, which was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Adam Copeland, Beth Phoenix, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler live in the area and have been promoting Wheeler’s GoFundMe campaign to raise money for those impacted.
