The AEW chief remains confident about the coming year.

Tony Khan, AEW’s head, has continued to express his confidence in the future. He told X Friday that 2024 is “the next 2021” for AEW.

Khan did not elaborate on why he felt that way, but this is a continuation of a recent trend where Khan has publicly proclaimed that this year would be a particularly strong one for AEW.

Kazuchika Okada’s and Mercedes Mone’s impending signings could contribute to this confidence. Okada’s NJPW contract expires in February, while Mone’s is currently a Free Agent.

In this note, Khan also expressed his confidence in this year.

“But we know that Tony Khan is particularly enthusiastic about 2024. Between new signings and the return of MJF (hopefully), Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, Bandido and Rey Fenix in the next few months, PAC, Britt Baker, PAC, and Rey Fenix.”

2024 is a particularly important year, as it is the last year of AEW’s existing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. The exclusive negotiating period between WBD, Khan and Discovery has not been made public. Khan has stated that he would prefer to remain with WBD as a loyalty gesture but believes there will be a great deal of interest for both AEW TV and Ring of Honor TV.

AEW’s highlights for 2021 include the signing of CM Punk and Adam Cole, the launch and expansion of Rampage, the move of Dynamite to TBS, Blood & Guts, the first Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium and the signing of Christian Cage, Malakai black and Andrade El-Idolo.
