AEW is unlikely to be running a show in a stadium in the United States any time soon.
Tony Khan was recently asked by Comicbook.com if he would consider doing a show in the United States comparable to All In at Wembley Stadium. The AEW president replied that such an event is not planned for the near future.
Khan said, “It is not something we would be looking at doing in the near future.” “But I think it’s an exciting idea, and something we could absolutely do and that would be very intriguing.”
A report by Fightful published earlier this week said that AEW is looking to run a major event in Texas, possibly a show at a stadium, next year. Khan did not confirm or deny the reports, but spoke highly of shows his promotion ran in Texas.
Khan continued, “I cannot comment on the accuracy or the near future of such reports but we’ve seen great shows in Texas over the years,” Khan said. “We have never done a pay-per view in Texas. We’ve done many Ring of Honor pay per views there. Many of AEW’s biggest TV episodes were filmed in Texas. But we have never done an AEW pay per view, and there is a high demand for it. I think it would be fascinating for us to do that.”
AEW’s summer residency begins at the Esports Stadium Arlington on Saturday in Arlington, Texas. The venue will be the location for episodes of Collision each week until August 17th. In the next month, there will also be ROH Death Before Dishonor and Battle of the Belts XI.
