A new media rights agreement with AEW may be close.
A reporter asked Tony Khan, during a short All Out media scrum held on Saturday, what the chances were of announcing a media rights deal within the next month. Khan replied that he was “90%” certain that this would happen.
He later explained, “I feel we are on one-yard line.” “I don’t know how many snaps will it take to punch the football into the endzone…I’m 100% sure the ball will go into the endzone and based on your timetable, I don’t know. You put me in a difficult situation. “But that’s just how I feel about media rights.”
Khan said at the end Friday’s Collision & Rampage tapes that “AEW is here to stay, I think.” He repeated those comments during the scrum of the media.
“I haven’t put pen to paper. He said he was still working on the project. “It is an exciting time, without giving too much detail, but still giving everyone that anticipation of what’s to come.”
Khan was the only person to take questions at Saturday’s scrum. He also answered a few questions that were not related to AEW media rights negotiations, before leaving early. One person asked about AEW’s recently registered trademark, Shockwave. Khan responded simply that AEW will create a shockwave in response to the events that occurred at All Out.
Another question was about Britt Baker who has left AEW TV since she lost to Mercedes Mone in All In last month. Khan said Baker was a key part of AEW, and to keep an ear out for her.
