Three wrestlers advanced to the second round of the WWE King of the Ring Tournament.
The tournament started on Monday’s Raw with three first-round bouts. The fourth first round match for the Raw side bracket will be held on house shows this coming weekend.
In the first match of the tournament, Jey Uso beat Finn Balor on Monday. Uso was announced to be a surprise replacement for Drew McIntyre who is suffering from hyperextended elbow.
Ilja Dragunov advanced to the second round of Monday’s matchup by defeating Ricochet.
Gunther advanced to the second round of the Raw main event after he defeated Sheamus in the first round with a half crab submission.
Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio will be the other Raw first round match at a houseshow this weekend.
Next week’s Raw will feature Gunther taking on the Kingston/Mysterio victor, while Uso faces Dragunov in next Monday’s show.
This Friday’s SmackDown will feature the first round of matches on the SmackDown bracket.
The King and Queen of the Ring PLE will host the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments on Saturday, 25 May in Jeddah.
