Thunder Rosa, AEW’s star, helped Thea Hail get a job at WWE NXT.
Hail explained in an interview with Pittsburgh City Paper, before NXT Great American Bash took place, how she was signed by WWE even though she was still in high school. Hail revealed that after she faced Thunder Rosa on AEW dark in 2021, Rosa put her in contact with a WWE recruiter. Hail was invited for a WWE tryout, and then offered a NXT contract.
Hail, a 20-year-old woman, told City Paper she grew watching wrestling reruns on TV with her father. Hail, then a teenager at the time, saw a video of Rey Mysterio and decided that she wanted to pursue wrestling as a profession. She told her dad and he helped find a wrestling school.
“I quit gymnastics, I quit cheer. I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was scrolling through Instagram and I always followed WWE. Hail said, “I always thought it would be amazing, but it wasn’t something I thought I could do. “I saw a video of Rey Mysterio and I put my phone down and said, ‘I am doing that.’
“[My dad] found me a school in Pittsburgh, called the Stronghold Training Center. Then, that was combined with Iron City Wrestling Academy and I trained at both schools.” After attending a QT Marshall seminar, I landed a dark match with AEW. I also wrestled Thunder Rosa and she put me in touch with a WWE recruiter.
Hail wrestled in two Dark matches with AEW, 2021, under the name Nikita Knight.
Hail, who signed with WWE in 2011, debuted as a Chase U member on NXT. She will be competing against Roxanne Perez tonight for the NXT Women’s Championship. The two-week TV special will air on Syfy due to the Olympics.
