Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who was able make it through WrestleMania without injury, is now dealing with a elbow injury that he sustained during filming.
Johnson began filming “The Smashing Machine,” a biography of MMA legend Mark Kerr, after competing at WrestleMania. Johnson revealed on Tuesday that he was injured during filming. Johnson showed off his swollen arm and said that it looked like he had a cantaloupe at the bottom of his elbow. He must wait until the fluid has gone before he can get an MRI.
Johnson said, “As you know, I am filming a film called ‘The Smashing Machine’. And whenever your film is named ‘The Smashing Machine’, well, you are going to be smashed up,” Johnson explained. “Look at this sucker.” It looks like a cantaloupe is stuck in my elbow. I was pretty badly injured today during our scenes. There could also be soft tissue damage. This is a lot fluid. We’ll see. “I’m going to have to get that out before I do any MRI.”
Johnson joked about feeling better already after drinking Teremana Tequila.
WrestleMania was Johnson’s very first pro wrestling match for more than a decade. On the first night of the event, he pinned Cody Rhodes during a tag-team match. The following night, Rhodes beat Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. A Rhodes-Johnson match is planned for the future.
TKO Group Holdings announced in January that Johnson had joined its Board of Director.
