The Boys respond to Tony Khan’s claims that they missed the AEW shows in todays Wrestling news
The Tate brothers have been released from AEW &ROH earlier this week.
The Boys have released a press release regarding their release from AEW &ROH and Tony Khan’s claims that they did not show up to events.
Khan announced that Brandon and Brent Tate had been released from the ROH Supercard Of Honor due to their multiple missed shows.
The Boys released a press release on Friday saying that HR told them that their release was because of budget cuts, and that it had nothing to do a miscommunication about a trip that caused them to miss a show.
In their statement, the Tate brothers include screenshots of texts they exchanged with AEW Management regarding their travel arrangements to the Ottawa, ON, Canada, March 16 show. The brothers were booked to leave from Nashville instead of Knoxville which is their normal airport. After they contacted the management about the change, it was told that new travel arrangements would made. They thought that because they never received the travel arrangements, they were no longer booked. AEW management, however, expected them to fly out of Nashville on the flights they had previously booked.
The boys’ statement is:
We planned to remain silent publicly about our release in order to respect the locker room who will be at the show tonight. We can’t do that anymore due to Tony’s comments, and the many fans, media outlets and friends who have reached out to our team. We apologize to Ring of Honor and AEW fans who were invested in the storyline, and expected us both to be there.
Here it is. With so many people voicing their concerns about us missing out on some of the most important opportunities in our lives because of Tony Khan’s comments, and with so many fans asking for answers, here is the answer.
We were told we would be a part of this story via Supercard, and that there were plans to have us with John and Taya in the lead up to the show. We were asked to come up with several ideas to prove that we could wrestle in the future.
Our travel was booked from Nashville, not our home airport, Knoxville, on March 16, the date we had scheduled following “Dalton’s loss of custody”. This was the first time that we have flown in North America, previously with Sinclair ROH or Tony Khan’s ROH. The screenshots of the interaction between management and travel, including the time, are in the comments.
On Monday, April 1, we were contacted on the phone by HR and management to inform us that our release was due to “budget reductions.” We raised concerns at the time and asked repeatedly if the release had anything to do with travel issues. We were repeatedly assured that it was not due to travel issues and was solely based on budget cuts.
We reached out to Tony yesterday, providing specific details and asking him to clarify this. We have not received a response. We have not received a response.
We are now forced to release these details along with screenshot proof in order to prevent people from criticizing us on social media and on tonight’s show. We know that releasing this. We understand that putting this out is detrimental to careers, but we were forced to do it.
We would like to thank all of our fans. We want to thank every fan who has reached out, made their voices heard and the locker room staff who have reached out who know the truth. We hope you enjoy the show tonight for the sake of wrestling and the two boys who have always been considered replaceable.
