He rejected the idea that Perry would be awarded the title, and instead announced that a series qualifying matches would take place on AEW TV that will lead to a Forbidden Doors ladder match that will determine the TNT Champion.
Later, it was revealed that Penta El-Zero Miedo will face Konosuke Takeshita on Rampage this coming Friday in the first TNT Championship Eliminator match.
Copeland suffered an injury at Double or Nothing last weekend after he climbed up to the top of a barbed-wire steel cage, jumped down and landed feet first. He revealed on X later that he would need to undergo surgery in order to repair his tibia.
“My brain forgets that my body always remembers, a little later, that I’m over 50 and I need better choices,” he said. “My body pulled the emergency break on me the other evening and I ended up breaking my tibia. This will require surgery. Don’t know when that will be.”
