The second-ever AEW continental classic will begin on Wednesday, November 27, the Dynamite from Chicago edition.
There were no other details announced, except for the start date. However, a video released last week confirmed that the reigning Continental Champion Kazuchika Ohada would be taking part. The Saturday edition of Collision is also being taped on that night. It’s possible that tournament matches may be shown during that show.
If the format remains the same as last season, the tournament will be a round-robin with 12 wrestlers divided into two “leagues”. Each wrestler will have five matches to earn points (3 for a win and 1 for a tie) to win his group. The tournament winner will be announced at the December Worlds End, just like last year.
The winner of last year’s tournament took home the first Continental Crown, a triple-crown consisting of the then new AEW Continental title as well as the NJPW Men’s Strong title and ROH World title. Eddie Kingston won the tournament but the crown was disbanded soon after the tournament ended as Kingston defended all of the titles and lost them individually.

In a non tournament match announced on Wednesday, Ring of Honor World champion Chris Jericho will defend his title against Tomohiro ishii.
Ishii defeated Jericho during a Fight Without Honor three-person match on Dynamite last Wednesday, gaining some revenge for Jericho’s and the Learning Tree faction’s decision to take him out of action a few weeks earlier.
It will be Jericho’s first defense of the gold in his second reign, while Ishii is searching for his first ROH title since winning the TV championship for a brief run in 2016. This will be a rematch of their Thanksgiving Eve 2022 battle in Chicago, which Jericho won.
