The Elite, who had harassed the roster and management of AEW for months, finally got what they wanted during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. They lost to Team AEW at the annual Blood & Guts steel cage match.
Darby Allin doused Jack Perry with gasoline after he was handcuffed and confined to a cage. He threatened to set Perry on fire unless Perry agreed to a TNT title fight at All In, to which Perry responded by spitting at him. Matt Jackson, who was handcuffed, began to plead with Allin to not do it. Eventually, he agreed to the match for Perry.
The five-on-5 match saw Matt & Nick Jackson and Kazuchika Ohada, Perry, and Hangman Page face AEW World champion Swerve Strickland and Mark Briscoe. Allin, Anthony Bowens, and Max Caster also took part.
As expected, the match was filled with violence, weapons, and notable moments, including Bowens falling down tables halfway up the cage outside the ring and Bowens opening Perry up with scissors, Allin’s skateboard loaded with thumbtacks, a barbed-wire board, staple guns and Allin dropping a coffin to Perry from inside the cage.
