Swerve Strickland claims 'political maneuvers' prevented his success as a WWE wrestler in todays Wrestling news

Swerve Strickland discussed his WWE run in a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen Show.

Strickland worked for WWE as Isaiah “Swerve”, Scott, from April 2019 to his release in November 2020. Strickland said that it was “political” when asked why things didn’t work out in the company.

“Political moves. Swerve replied, “Just political moves. “I’ll leave it at political moves,” Swerve replied. ‘”

Strickland made his debut in AEW with Revolution on 6 March 2022. He was asked about his expectations when he signed up with the company.

He replied, “Opportunity is the key.

“I’ve worked my way from the bottom up, I don’t care.” You can put me into battle royals. I won’t lose any of them. “Give me the chance to show off.”

“Give me an opportunity like, ‘Hey can I get one minute of TV time here in this spot’? ‘Absolutely!’ ‘Okay I’m going make something important.’ That is something you can’t get anywhere else. It’s hard to get a minute of TV time by asking for it. It doesn’t matter if it is Dynamite or Rampage, Collision, Ring of Honor or Ring of Honor. Getting television time forwarded to your account is valuable. It’s your choice what you do with the time.”

“It’s all about the opportunity. There are a lot people I know who are very, extremely talented and would dream of a minute-long television opportunity.”

Strickland said that when he joined AEW he had to also build a relationship and learn what Tony Khan wanted in his wrestling shows.

“It was a relationship I had to build up with Tony and All Elite Wrestling. It wasn’t all about me or what I wanted. I had to learn this too. During my time at AEW I learned to ask questions like ‘What does Tony need? What can I do to provide Tony with what he needs now?

Strickland’s run in the AEW World Championship came to an end on Sunday, after 126 consecutive days. He won the title in April from Samoa Joe, at AEW Dynasty, and successfully defended it against Will Ospreay Christian Cage, and Claudio Castagnoli.
