Swerve Strickland: AEW locker-room vibe is 'great.' in todays Wrestling news

Swerve Strickland, AEW’s locker room manager, says the atmosphere in the AEW locker rooms has been “great” heading into All In.

Around this time last year, CM Punk and Jack Perry got into a backstage altercation during All In 2023. This led to Punk’s departure. MJF and Britt Bakker had a backstage confrontation last month. Baker was briefly suspended but both MJF, and Will Ospreay, have said that the incident was blown way out of proportion.

Strickland said that the locker room at AEW was great when asked by Barstool Sports’ Rasslin’ Podcast. He also believes that any issues within the AEW roster have been overblown.

Strickland said, “It was great.” “I think that everything has been blown out to proportion, and I think it’s been abused. They say that it happens every other week but, if you go back to the last week, did you hear anything? You’ve heard nothing in the past six months. To me, this seems almost calculated. There’s always a story that comes out right before a pay-per view, or before a big moment. It’s because, like, there is always bickering between teammates, and that’s universal at every workplace.

Strickland said that arguments will happen wherever you work. Most people don’t report these arguments on the internet. Problems occur and then they disappear.

“It happens all over. “I’d rather people care about something and be upset than not give a crap,” he said. “These are people who are passionate about what they do and their work. They’re probably the best in their field, too. These people are very sensitive to these things. This shows me that you care. To me, it’s literally about who is saying what, how loudly it’s said, and in what forum. I feel that AEW is always defensive about these things. It’s part of being the alternative. In these scenarios, we’re forced to play a lot of defense. This doesn’t stop our ability to continue to produce great shows and products. This doesn’t stop people from wanting to come and be part of All Elite Wrestling. This doesn’t stop anything. You can enjoy the story but then we’ll get back to business, making money, and growing.

Strickland, the AEW world champion, is a leader in the locker room. Chris Jericho called Strickland the AEW team captain.

“When we look at the NFL, you can see the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks fighting one another. Strickland told Rasslin that nobody was saying the Pittsburgh Steelers would fall apart, and their organization will be done for and they would lose everything. “No, it’s ultra-competitive. These are people who are highly competitive. It happens. Everywhere.”

Strickland defends the AEW world title against Bryan Danielson this Sunday (August 25, 2008). Danielson has to retire from ring competition if Danielson loses the match.
