You were Sting even before I was born.
I’ve never lived a life in which you could not rappel from the rafters or dive off high objects.
Now that day is almost here, and I have never felt more respect and admiration towards you than today.
I don’t have the words to express everything I want to say.
Now I’ll only say this.
You did it, dad.
You found a solution – you put it all on the table for nearly four decades. You stayed electrified the whole time.
You did this while also teaching what it means to have character, integrity and grit.
You showed me, and you are showing me right now.
Garrett, Gracie and I owe you a great deal of gratitude.
You will remember my answer that day in Central Park as a child when I was asked to name my hero.
The answer is the same.
I still think you’re the most cool dude on the planet.
It’s time to take one last ride. I’m not quite ready for the end, but I am ready for you to enjoy a sunset.
I can’t help but be excited to see you do Sting stuff one last time. I love you, Dad.
Icon Forever.
Sting replied to Steven’s post
Steven James Borden, you’ve always been a master of words. Teary eyed…
Sting will compete for the last time in the ring at AEW revolution this Sunday (3rd March). Sting & Darby Allin defend their AEW Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks in the main event of the pay-per view.
Steven and Garrett Sting played a part on AEW TV during the last weeks of their father’s in-ring career. Steven and Garrett were present when Sting & Allin took home the AEW Tag-Team titles on the Dynamite episode of February 7, 2010. The Young Bucks then attacked Sting, Allin Steven and Garrett with baseball bats.
Allin told Digital Spy, despite their appearance in Dynamite, that Steven and Garrett had no interest in becoming professional wrestlers. Both Borden sons were college football players.
Allin said:
They’re not at all interested. I asked [Sting] if his sons had ever tried it. He said, “No, they are not interested.”
They didn’t want to do it, but I was curious about their size. They should become a tag-team – that would cool.
The Players’ Tribune published a piece Saturday in which they collected voicemails of Sting’s family members and members of AEW’s locker room, who shared their memories of Sting as well as their reflections on his career.
