“Speedball” aims to make the most out of every opportunity.
Mike Bailey, aka “Speedball”, is entering the final year of his TNA Wrestling deal.
Bailey signed a contract with Impact Wrestling in October 2021. The contract allowed Bailey to wrestle in the United States again after five years. A visa issue caused him to be prohibited from wrestling in the U.S.
In an interview published on Wednesday, Bailey spoke to Sports Illustrated. Bailey revealed during the conversation that this is his TNA contract year. He wants to win every championship and make the most out of every opportunity:
This is my contract-year. I’m making the most of every opportunity. This is my contract year.
I’m glad to be in a tag-team right now – Speedball Mountain – with Trent Seven. I want to win those tag titles. I want all the titles.
TNA Impact airs a tag match tonight (May 9) featuring Ace Austin and Chris Bey taking on Ace Austin and Trent Seven. The winning team advances and will face off in a singles bout to determine the number 1 contender for the X-Division Title, currently held by Mustafa Ali.
Bailey is a former X-Division champion for TNA/Impact.
The System (TNA Tag Team Champions Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers, TNA World Champion Moose, and TNA World Champion Bailey) defeated Bailey Seven & Matt Hardy in the main event of TNA’s Under Siege Special last Friday.
The 33-year old Bailey told Sports Illustrated he has had some breakthrough moments in his professional career, but he is still far from achieving everything he wants.
I feel as though I’ve had breakthroughs throughout my career. You can still see the biggest stars of wrestling having breakthrough moments. Nic Nemeth’s example is fantastic. He did one thing for many years and now he is doing something completely new.
I haven’t achieved anything near what I wanted to do. Even though I love what i’m doing now, it’s very fulfilling, it’s only a tenth of what i plan to do.
Bailey ranked 10th for the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the 2023 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. He was ranked fourth in Most Underrated.
