Serena Deeb has returned to the ring.

In an Instagram video posted Thursday, Deeb revealed her long absence from AEW’s programming was due a series unprovoked seizure that began in October 2020. She also announced that she has been cleared to return by her neurologist and hopes to be back as soon as possible.

Deeb says the following in the video:

I wanted to share a little with you about what has been happening with me. Since last October, a series three unprovoked seizure has occurred. This has been an extremely dramatic time for me. It has affected my career, and my life in many ways. It’s been a really scary experience for me.

I’ve seen many different doctors and had every test possible, but nobody could explain why this happened for a long time.

It has been a challenge for me to be out of the ring. I love professional wrestlers with all my heart and I miss wrestling, I miss performing.

Deeb says in the video she kept this private, but decided to make it public to spread a message of encouragement to others who are dealing with similar issues.

I kept this very secret. Then I learned more about seizures. I had no idea how many people suffer from seizures. I have so much compassion. I know how frightening it is, and I want to let you know that you are never alone.

I want to encourage and I have some really good news.

I recently saw my neurosurgeon and he said that I was recovered, healthy, and officially cleared to wrestle. This means I’m ready to return. Next time you see me, hopefully I’ll be doing what I do best in the ring. I can’t hardly wait to wrestle. I can’t hardly wait to show you what Serena Deeb, the Professor is made of. I love and appreciate you all. Thank you for your time. Much love.

Deeb’s final match took place at the October 18, 2022 AEW Dark : Elevation taped. She was spotted backstage at AEW’s Collision taping in October and attended a Cauliflower Alley Club dinner this summer. She was the honoree for Women’s Wrestling, Mickie James.
