Scott D'Amore claims he knew that he would be replaced two days before TNA Hard to Kill in todays Wrestling news

Scott D’Amore revealed the moment he knew that his time at TNA was done.

On Busted Open Radio the former TNA President said that he was aware of his departure just two days before the Hard to Kill event in January, the first show the company held after rebranding as TNA again. Anthem announced officially on February 7th that Anthony Cicione will replace D’Amore as TNA president.

“Here’s the scoop for your headline. I found out what was happening to me two days before Hard to Kill…I found out what was in store as I was about to board a plane. Len Asper, [Anthem CEO] and I talked about it. It still hit me hard even though I’d seen some signs. But I did what professionals would do. I stowed that away in my head and kept it there, and then flew to Las Vegas along with Tommy [Dreamer]and the rest of the Team. I hate it when people give all the credit to me and I also hate it when they give me the blame. TNA was successful because of the team that we were able assemble. I’m very proud to have led this team and to have assembled this team.”

D’Amore stated that the company sent him home, and he is being paid for doing nothing. He said this was “kinda nice”. He also denied rumors that he tried to buy the company before he left, stating that he only did so after he returned home.

“I finished the Florida tapes and left the building that evening thinking that was it, I had fulfilled my obligations. The next morning, I did two things. I put Jordynne in the [Royal] Rumble, and I began looking for ways to raise money to buy TNA. It was not true that I tried to purchase the company and that is what led me to leave. It came down to a difference in opinion on how things should go. There was no you, no you. Since then, I’ve spoken to Len Asper. As I told him the day that we discussed it, or perhaps the day of the announcement, he said he hoped there were no hard feelings. I said, “I can’t say that there aren’t any hard feelings but there aren’t any personal feelings.”

D’Amore admitted that he was conflicted about his departure because it occurred at a time when TNA was experiencing a shift in momentum.

It was very contradictory. I was proud of the group, what we had accomplished and where we were. I was also very upset when I found out that I had lost control at a moment when I thought we were poised and ready to explode.

D’Amore announced Thursday that he would revive Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. He had acquired the rights to this promotion from the Tunney Family, which originally held events using the name between 1930-1984.
