Satnam Singh could be taking on a new role with AEW.
The 7-foot-4-inch Singh has been moved from the broadcast team section to the AEW roster, possibly indicating he will begin working as a commentary.
Singh’s new role could be part AEW plans to expand their presence in India. Singh told the Hindustan Times in late 2013 that AEW was planning to expand to India.
“We plan to bring AEW into India and expose it so that the people of this country know what it’s like. This is important. “The youth should know there are other things you can do with wrestling,” he said in the interview.
The April 29, 2024 edition The Wrestling Observer Newsletter featured Dave Meltzer’s article on WWE’s deal to Netflix, which opens the door for AEW to enter international markets like India.
Meltzer wrote: “Another company could benefit from the Netflix deal, with AEW having the best chance.” “Like Sony Six in India there are television stations all over the world who have long-standing relationships with WWE. These stations are used to American pro wrestling, and can pay a moderate amount, or, in the case Sony Six in India a huge amount, for the programming. If these stations continue to have pro wrestling, that would open the door for AEW.”
AEW has announced a TV Rights Deal with Eurosport India for 2021. The length of the agreement has not been disclosed.
Singh wrestled last at AAA Triplemania Tijuana, on June 15th. He defeated Vampiro and Alberto El Patron with Parker Boudreau and Sam Adonis. Singh pinned Vampiro for the team win. He defeated Rosario Grillo in his last AEW match on the June 12 Rampage tape.
