Samoa Joe’s first AEW Championship defense will be against Hook at the January 17 Dynamite.
AEW revealed on this week’s Homecoming Dynamite edition that Samoa Joe vs. Hook will take place for the World Championship on Wednesday, January 17, Dynamite.
Joe will be making his first defense since he ended MJF’s reign of over a year at the Worlds End pay per view on December 30, 2016.
The title match was announced after a segment of Dynamite Homecoming, where Joe stated there would be a new protocol for title challenges during his reign. He also dared anyone to bring his record and reputation to his notice.
Swerve Strickland stepped forward, followed by Hangman Page and Hook, before Hook entered the ring to face his opponent next week.
Hook has a 28-1 record in AEW singles match, and his only loss came at the hands Jack Perry at the Blood & Guts Edition of Dynamite last July.
Dynamite’s next episode will only feature Samoa Joe vs. Hook in the AEW World championship.
