Rousey’s “Our Fight” book releases on April 2.

Ronda Rousey’s upcoming memoir takes aim at Vince McMahon.

Rousey’s “Our Fight” book releases on April 2, but excerpts began to circulate on social media on Wednesday.

In the released paragraphs Rousey calls Triple H “one of better people” in the business side of WWE and compares Vince McMahon with Emperor Palpatine of Star Wars.

An excerpt reads:

NXT is owned and controlled by Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque. He is not only my WrestleMania in-ring nemesis but also one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and one of those who are good at business. He is married Stephanie McMahon who is the daughter Vince McMahon’s Emperor Palpatine. Vince McMahon took over the company in the early 1980s from his father. He spent the next forty years playing the real-world version of Monopoly. He bought up and absorbed smaller promotions until he owned them all.

Sometimes it’s difficult to tell where the evil, unethical character of Vince McMahon, played out before the cameras, ends and the real, questionably ethical Vince McMahon, who has been sued multiple times and accused of sexual misconduct. The blurred line between reality and character is a recurring issue in the WWE Universe.

Another excerpt is:

[Pay-per view events] are held in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia as well as twice a year now in Saudi Arabia. This is a country that restricts women’s rights in a manner that I am sure Vince McMahon would love to be able to.

Rousey also talks about the treatment of female talent at WWE.

WWE is known for producing well-produced videos about the history of women in the organization. But the truth is that women are largely footnotes. For a long time, women were relegated as valets, sexualized characters who take cheap shots when the referee isn’t watching. As the level of female wrestling talent grew, and as society began to change, the organization gradually expanded their role.

WWE bills itself as an entertainment organization that specializes in sports. However, just like the mainstream entertainment industry there was a culture of casting couches where men in high-ranking positions backstage would pressure female talent to perform sexual favors for airtime. It’s difficult to keep track of all the public scandals and accusations. I’m sure that the WWE swept them under the ring.

She continued to say that the company began giving more airtime to female talent after they “basically were armbarred” into it.

It was only after WWE was basically pushed into it by a global backlash on social media to #givedivasachance, after Divas were allowed a total thirty seconds – less than the time it takes for most people to read this sentence – for a nationally broadcasted tag match. Four women wrestled for less time than all the men on the roster combined.

If you were a person who is not a part of the wrestling industry, and you were presented with this information, you might conclude that there exists a disturbing patriarchal, sexist culture in the WWE. You would be correct. I have nothing but admiration for the women wrestlers of the past who helped pave the way for today’s female wrestlers. I have nothing but disgust at the sexist, degrading abuse they received.

Rousey, who left TKO in January after McMahon, took to social media and said that even if Bruce Prichard was still at the company McMahon had a hand to play in its running.

She wrote:

Bruce Prichard, Vince’s avatar is still in charge if Bruce is still around. Bruce was still running the business when Vince was ‘gone before’

In March 2023 Rousey wrote her program with Liv Morgan was “hamstrung” by a group of octogenarians.

She wrote:

Imagine what our @yaonlylivvonce fight could have been, if we weren’t hamstrung with a bunch octogenarians that still think they are hip and put less than 5 minutes a week of thought into each woman’s storyline…

Rousey will promote her book during WrestleMania week in Philadelphia. She has been announced to attend WrestleCon in downtown Philadelphia, April 4-7 2024. She will be signing her book at the event.

Her second memoir, Our Fight, will be her next book. This book will be her second memoir. It follows up on “My Fight,” which she published in 2015.
