Roman Reigns released a statement to thank fans for their “outpouring of love” following the passing of his father, WWE Hall of Famer Sika Aoa’i.
In a message sent to X on Monday, Reigns expressed his gratitude and spoke of the legacy that his father has left for his family. Reigns wrote:
“My family and myself thank everyone for their outpouring of love in the name my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, who will be forever remembered as half of The Wild Samoans. My father made a profound impression on my family, and we will always be grateful for the foundation that he laid for us. My sisters and I will do everything we can to honor his memory and legacy. Rest in Power, dad. We love you.”
Sika and his brother Afa have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, as part of the class of 2007. The Wild Samoans held the WWF Tag Team Championship three times as The Wild Samoans.
Sika vs. Hulk Hogan, for the WWF Championship, aired in one of Saturday Night’s Main Event’s most memorable episodes. The two wrestled each other for the title in the October 3, 1987 SNME episode, which also featured the birthing of the Mega Powers.
Reigns has taken a hiatus from WWE since losing the Undisputed WWE championship to Cody Rhodes in April at WrestleMania.
