A Ring of Honor title was handed out at a CMLL event held on Friday night to kick off the Forbidden Door Weekend.
Atlantis Jr. defeated Kyle Fletcher in Arena Mexico and won the ROH Television title. Fletcher was champion since December 2023, and he made seven successful defences during that time.
In the near future, it looks like Atlantis Jr. will be facing Fletcher again. Fletcher challenged Atlantis Jr. after their match to face him on Fletcher’s home turf.
ROH’s next Pay-Per-View is Death Before Dishonor, 2024. It will take place on Friday, 27th July. ROH hasn’t announced if the Atlantis Jr. and Fletcher rematch is going to take place there.
Ian Riccaboni, a ROH commentator, tweeted: “Despite CMLL actors appearing on ROH as representatives of the Company as early as 2015 this is the first CMLL star to win ROH gold when under contract with CMLL. The opposite has only happened once (Matt Taven),” Riccaboni said.
AEW and CMLL have been working together since late 2023. They now enjoy a close relationship. CMLL will perform at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 30 for the first time. The PPV will be held in Long Island, New York.
Chris Jericho also made a surprise at the CMLL show on Friday night. He attacked Mistico and set up a match that will be held at Arena Mexico.
