The Rock is not expected to wrestle in Saudi Arabia in May.
WWE’s next Saudi Arabia show will not feature Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
WWE will return to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 25th May for a live premium event. Dave Meltzer reported that WWE would like to have The Rock at that event, despite the many variables and factors that were in play. Meltzer reported that there was a push for The Rock to be at least part of one of WWE’s Saudi events in this year.
Meltzer reports in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rock’s filming schedule prevents him from appearing at the May 25 Saudi Arabia show.
Johnson begins filming “The Smashing Machine” on 5/1. This means he will not be able to compete in the May Saudi Arabia show. SummerSlam may also be difficult depending on his schedule. It could mean that the earliest he can do another match is the second Saudi Arabian show. I could imagine him waiting until WrestleMania.
The Rock plays MMA legend Mark Kerr in “The Smashing Machine”. The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions will be partnering with A24 Films to produce the movie.
The Rock will appear on SmackDown tonight (March 15) in Memphis, just three weeks before WrestleMania. WWE will continue to follow up on Cody Rhodes’ slapping of The Rock last Friday.
The Rock & Roman reigns will face Seth Rollins & Rhodes on night one of WrestleMania. This has implications for the Undisputed WWE Universe Championship match between Reigns & Rhodes on night two. The Bloodline won’t be allowed to ringside if Rhodes and Rollins win their tag team match. If Rock & Reigns are victorious, Reigns vs. Rhodes is a Bloodline Rules match (anything goes).
