Gallus practiced matches with The Rock ahead of WrestleMania.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is grateful to Gallus for helping him prepare for his WrestleMania return.
Gallus (Joe Coffey Mark Coffey & Wolfgang), worked with The Rock in training sessions before he returned to WrestleMania, wrestling his first match in over a decade. The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night one of the event.
Gallus shared on Thursday a photo of one of their sessions at The Rock. He thanked them for their hardwork.
ESPN reported that Gallus was simulating matches against The Rock before WrestleMania to help him prepare for his return.
WWE rented warehouses to Johnson’s team as training facilities. Johnson lives in Los Angeles and one of the rings that WWE shipped to the city was set up there. He simulated matches with NXT’s Gallus, the Scottish trio consisting of Wolfgang along Mark and Joe Coffey.
Johnson, who is in a tag team match, needed three wrestlers in order to master his timing and push through the in-ring scenes. Michael ‘P.S.’ Hayes, a WWE Hall of Famer for his time as a member of the Freebirds, and a longtime WWE match producer, supervised these training sessions with Bobby Roode. Roode is a former NXT and WWE tag team champion, who now works as a producer. Chad Patton, a veteran referee, officiated these sessions while WWE medical supervised the rehearsals in order to ensure safety.
The Rock pinned Rhodes during WrestleMania to set up a future bout between the two. Rhodes became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after he defeated Reigns in WrestleMania’s night two main event.
Mark Coffey and Wolfgang are former NXT Tag Team Champions as well as NXT UK Tag Team Champions.
Gallus’ last televised NXT Match took place in February. Mark Coffey and Wolfgang have worked two matches in WWE Main Event since that time.
