The Rock was a special guest on ESPN First Take on Tuesday.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson believes that if he were to headline WrestleMania with Roman Reigns, it would be the biggest WrestleMania ever.
On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Johnson had been appointed to the TKO Group Holdings board of directors. Johnson also has full ownership of the name “The Rock”.
Johnson appeared on ESPN First Take as part of a tour of the media following the announcement. On First Take, the subject of a possible Rock vs. Roman Reigns fantasy match was raised. Johnson said he believes the match could produce the biggest and best WrestleMania yet.
You guys know that I am a long-gamer. I like to build. This is what I think: If Roman Reigns and myself were to headline WrestleMania – and I say this with respect for all the WrestleManias before because I grew in this business and love it – then we could put on a show that would be the greatest WrestleMania ever.
Johnson said that he is “deeply passionate” about growing WWE and he wants to have the world watching if he meets Reigns.
There’s a possibility [that Johnson will face Reigns]. I love this industry, I adore pro wrestling, and I adore WWE. But I also have this deep passion for it to grow and to build. If we’re going do something like that, I want to see the world.
Johnson, when asked what he meant by growing WWE and taking the company to a new level, said that he still felt there was a “global foot print” into which WWE could continue to anchor. There are many new places and people to reach. Johnson said he would like to reach as many people as possible if there was to be a Rock vs. Reigns WrestleMania.
Johnson surprised WWE fans by returning to the WWE programming during the Day 1 episode Raw earlier this month. He teased he wanted to face Reigns, and take Reigns’ spot at the top of the table.
Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Randy Orton (again), LA Knight (again), and AJ Styles in a fatal four way match at the Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 27. Cody Rhodes is aiming to win the men’s Royal Rumble for the second consecutive year and earn an opportunity to face Reigns at WrestleMania.
