Rey Mysterio isn’t thinking about retirement, despite the fact that he is approaching 50.
Mysterio appeared with Chris Van Vliet in the latest episode of Insight. Mysterio was also asked during the interview if he thought about how long he wanted to wrestle.
Mysterio replied, “I won’t until the subject is brought up.” “When my wife brings it up, I pause, and I’m not sure if I’m going to do this for another two or three years. I listen to my body, and especially my mind. My body has been feeling great. With all the benefits I get from doing things like the cold plunge or the sauna. My mind must be in the right place. That’s the hardest part for me. Sometimes the age factor is a concern. Not in the moment but thinking about the future, like I would want to be able walk and move around at 55 or 56. Will my body still feel the same at 55 or 56? “I don’t know.”
Mysterio will be celebrating his 50th birthday on the 11th of December. Van Vliet said that while 50 is a large number, stem cells, saunas, cold plunges, and red-light treatments have been important in ensuring his body feels good despite all the surgeries he has had over his career.
Mysterio said, “To still be able do what I am doing after starting when I was 14 and turning 50 in this year.” “It’s just like, ‘Wow. I can’t even believe I’ve done it for this long. But I feel great.'” How will I feel in two or five years? Will it be the same after I stop doing it? ‘”
Mysterio and his son Dominik will be facing off on Raw next Monday. This is their first televised match since Rey beat Dominik at WrestleMania.
Mysterio has been inducted into both the Wrestling Observer newsletter Hall of Fame and WWE Hall of Fame.
