Rey Fenix to headline May indie event in todays Wrestling news
The AEW star is out of action since the middle of October.
Rey Fenix’s return to the ring is finally in sight.
House of Glory, a Northeast independent promotion, announced on Friday that the former AEW International Tag Team Champion and former AEW International Tag Team Champion would be in action at their Sunday, May 5, Cinco de Mayo, event in Jamaica, New York.
Fenix will be competing for the first time since losing the International title on October 10th’s Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite.
Fenix is recovering from an injury he described as old and the worst he has ever suffered. Dave Meltzer said that it was either a bad hip, or a bad back. Fenix told reporters in October that the injury had bothered him since September’s Grand Slam.
Penta El-Zero Miedo, Fenix’s younger brother and fellow AEW member, has continued to compete as a singles and team wrestler.
While AEW announced that a tournament would be held for the vacant Tag Team Titles, they haven’t announced the teams or brackets in a formal manner, leaving the possibility open that the Lucha Brothers could enter and try to regain the titles.
