Prestige Wrestling announced Tuesday that Lio Rush will replace Fenix at its show on January 5 in Portland. The event is now officially Rush vs. Samuray del Sol.
Fenix is not in action since October. His last match was the Title Tuesday episode of AEW Dynamics on October 10. He lost the International Championship in a match lasting less than five minutes to Orange Cassidy.
Fenix won the International title on September 20 at AEW grand Slam when an audible call was made at the end of match due to Moxley’s concussion. Fenix was also injured in that match.
He posted on Instagram on October 2, that he had been dealing with “an older injury” since his match with Moxley.
Fenix wrote
The international championship was a huge challenge.
The night I was crowned champion, I left with the championship in hand and an old injury bothering again. My first defense was painful but I did not let it stop me. I continued fighting until the fight ended. This coming Wednesday is my second defense.
A Luchador never gives up and will always give everything in battle. I am a true Luchador, a man of a hundred lives. Nothing and no one will stop me.
